Employer Services

“We will either find a way, or make one!” So said Hannibal, known to one and all as “the father of strategy” and one of the greatest military commanders and tacticians in history.

Hannibal would have been proud of Grimes Legal, Inc.

GLI always finds a way or dares to make a new way in its desire to achieve its goals:

Domestic and international corporations hire us to locate, qualify and recruit top-notch professionals in a variety of areas of legal specialization; Individual high-caliber attorneys hire us when they are seeking employment with the most progressive and successful law firms all over the world.

Although "action" and the hunger for success are keys to understanding the GLI method, no one should forget the time-tested proverb, “Success is in the details.” We believe in the details - all of them! That is why we learn everything there is to know about the firms and individuals we have the privilege of representing. Then - and only then – do we have the sufficient information to create a strategy that enables us to choreograph the moves that eventually yield long-lasting success.

In the legal profession, each attorney represents more than a capable litigator or counselor; they also represent a firm's inventory of client knowledge. For that reason, it's critically important that attorneys be recruited carefully to ensure compatibility with the corporate culture, nurtured to realize their fullest potential and retained within the organization to assure the company's investment is fulfilled. The GLI system of recruiting for the perfect match has been developed to assure the greatest long-term prognosis for success with each placement.

For us, effective recruitment is a highly specialized craft and, at its very best, a distinctive form of art. Our superior track record demonstrates that in each and every situation, we not only exercise maximum creativity but also work outside the box. Success requires us to transcend the constraints that hamper others in our industry.

We relish the confidence our clients place in us to solve their recruitment needs, and we are particularly proud of the fact that when a company cannot meet its hiring needs through its normal relationships with placement agencies, GLI can.

And we don’t stop with placements. We also specialize in company mergers. The purpose of firm mergers is to complement the strengths and values of both firms. Sometimes, however, mergers have the opposite effect. Just as we do for firms seeking individual candidates, GLI can match like-cultured firms in search of a merger partner that can add strength to the larger organization. While the same principles of recruitment apply in mergers, the level of difficulty increases incrementally, underscoring the importance of objectivity to the merger process.

It takes time, energy, brains, fabulous contacts, plenty of inside information and a healthy dose of magic dust to be a successful legal recruiter.

No wonder GLI IS THE HOME OF THE PERFECT MATCH.

Candidate Services

Whether you are a recent law school graduate, an experienced associate or a seasoned partner…congratulations, your search has brought you to the right place – Grimes Legal!

Grimes Legal is armed and ready to assist you in reaching your goals. We will not rest until you are placed in a position that best complements your background. We have a unique five-step candidate application process:

We Develop a Personal Relationship

1. First, we want and need to know all about you. Most companies will ask you to fill out a general background application and evaluate your experience based on that information. For us, that step is only the very beginning of a long and rewarding process.

In order to work more effectively for you we need to have a thorough understanding of your background and experience. Our staff will gather all relevant information about your achievements, academics and work history -- even non-related to the legal profession.

We will also ask you pointed questions to determine the type of environment you’d like to work in. After all, we recognize that you will be spending over one-third of your life at your place of employment. It’s imperative that we find the right opportunity for you.

We take our job finding your ‘ideal job’ personally. In fact, long after your placement, we maintain contact with you to assure you’re satisfied with the placement. You become part of our international extended network. We view your placement as an on-going proposition.

We Evaluate Your Skills Based On Broad Range Of Factors

2. Once we have gathered all of your information, our staff begins to sort through your data. Grimes Legal uses their state-of-the-art, in-house software that determines every candidate’s strengths and weaknesses. This careful and strategic evaluation is determined by the information that was provided to our placement department.

Through profiles, graphs and charts and an “evaluation system,” we can determine where you would best be able to contribute your talents, grow and maximize your abilities. In addition to your background, this extensive process allows us to know your personality because we have spent a considerable amount of time with you on the telephone, communicating through e-mail and hopefully an in-person meeting. Grimes Legal leaves nothing to chance -- no stone is unturned.

We Reach Out To Our Extensive Clients On Your Behalf

3. Armed with all of your particulars, we roll up our sleeves and tap into our wide and vast resource bank. We have law firms, corporations and exclusive affiliations that cross the globe. Whether you are looking to work in the United States or abroad, almost without exception, we have relationships.

We will work hard to place you in your choice of destination as well as position. However, we are not looking to simply place you in any job or any location. It is our intent that we find the right opportunity and right location for you.

We hold long and exhaustive meetings with our clients prior to you meeting them. At this point in the process, we can genuinely let our clients know that we have initiated a full-on interview and evaluation process. When it comes to our illuminating your background, we leave nothing to the imagination. We work our phones, computers and hold in-person meetings.

It is our goal that the perspective employer understand that they would be privileged to have you on their team.

Our Forte´!

4. It has been our experience that candidates do much better at interviews when they are prepared. So, once we have secured your meetings, we strongly advise you to prepare for the interview. We will give you the Grimes Legal ‘secret’ interviews tips – from eye contact, to body language, to the do’s and don’ts – that will cover interview presentation and techniques. We will arm you with valuable information about both opportunity and the firm/company so you can put your best foot forward. You can never be too prepared for this meeting. We take your interview very seriously. We know you do, too.

Most importantly, we want you to be confident and enjoy the process. You’ve gotten this far with hard work and talent.

Evaluation

5. Perhaps this is the most important of all steps. When you complete your interview, we want to hear from you. We want to know how you think you did.

When you replay the time you spent with the interviewee in your mind, we want to know – what do you think you forgot to ask? What do you wish you had said? What question did they ask that you weren’t prepared to answer?

By evaluating your interview, you will learn what you can do differently and how you can improve the art of the interview. If you land a job from your first interview -- wonderful. If it takes multiple interviews, do not worry. We’re here for you!!

Firm and Corporate Mergers

If you’re considering a merger, chances are this is one of the most important decisions your organization will make.

The good news is this decision does not have to be made solely by you and your staff. In fact, experts would argue that you lack an “objective and clear” distilled analysis of your company because your circumstances are too close and you are emotionally invested one way or the other.

The right merger or practice group acquisition is frequently a very effective way for a law firm to obtain legal expertise in new practice areas and establish a legitimate presence in a new city. Mergers or practice group acquisitions can often provide instant revenue, an established client base and lead to a dominant position in a new or existing city. In addition to the business considerations, the cultures and philosophies of the separate entities must be compatible for a combination to be successful. We specialize in locating like-minded firms, groups and companies who are considering a merger as an option.

With any acquisition or merger, it's imperative that proper planning and due diligence happen before discussions commence. Too often, firms enter into discussions with little or no strategy. These discussions often continue for months and years without progress and, in some cases, have disastrous consequences.

We at GLI know mergers. After all, we have initiated, managed and directed over 24 major mergers in the past decade.

We welcome the opportunity to discuss our merger service with you.
